Keith G. Porterfield was born and raised in southern California but has lived in Georgia for the last 30 years. He started his career as a telecommunications engineer, and after working for seven years for Unocal Corporation he moved to Georgia to join Oglethorpe Power Corporation, a not-for-profit electric utility owned by 38 of Georgia’s distribution electric membership corporations. Through a corporate restructuring, he transitioned to a related organization, Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) and was appointed Manager of Telecommunications. Porterfield earned his law degree in 2001, and in 2009 assumed the role of General Counsel & Manager of Corporate Compliance for GSOC. In 2012, he returned to the field of telecommunications, and as Vice President of Telecommunications, he led GSOC’s efforts in improving its communications networks and in working to expand the availability of fiber optic telecommunication facilities throughout the state. In 2017, he returned to the legal field to assume responsibility for GSOC’s legal affairs as Vice President, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. He left GSOC in 2022 to join Autry, Hall, and Cook.
He is married and has two grown children. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, travel, racquetball, and gardening.
