Mr. Kilgore’s practice, since 1984, has focused primarily on the representation of generation, transmission and distribution cooperatives and other industry participants, including lenders and underwriters, in RUS and alternative financings (construction and permanent), Alternative Wholesale Power Contracts and related Member Relations and Governance issues, Coop Restructurings and both RUS and Capital Markets Indentures for electric generation, transmission and distribution systems. Cada received his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia, School of Law in 1979. While at the University of Georgia, he was awarded the Order of the Coif, was Notes Editor of the Georgia Law Review, and earned a Master of Business Administration.
Born in Griffin, Georgia, Mr. Kilgore attended the public schools in Milledgeville, before entering the University of Georgia as a freshman in 1970, returning home to receive his Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia College, Magna Cum Laude, in 1975, where he was awarded Phi Kappa Phi. Following his graduation from law school in 1979, Mr. Kilgore began his legal career in Atlanta, Georgia where he still resides and where his coop practice remains both local and national in scope. From 1987 until 2008, Mr. Kilgore was a Partner in two of the largest national/international firms known for their electric coop practice; first, at what is now known as Paul Hastings and, then at Sutherland. He joined Autry, Hanrahan, Hall & Cook, LLP in 2010.
Cada is Member of the Electric Cooperative Bar Association (elected to the Advisory Board, 2006, term ended 2008), the Georgia Electric Membership Cooperative Lawyers Association; the Business Law Section, the Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation and the Section of Environment, Energy and Resources Law of the American Bar Association; the State Bar of Georgia; and the Atlanta Bar Association.
Cada has been a frequent speaker through his career at a wide range of National and Local coop industry functions, including the G&T Accounting & Finance Officers Association, both CFC and CoBank Member forums, alternative finance forums sponsored by industry underwriters and others, the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association and Lawyers Association, the Georgia Coop Lawyers Association, Distribution and G&T Boards regarding Alternative Member/G&T Restructurings in ten (10) states, and seminars sponsored by RUS and providing finance training for RUS staff.
Cada has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America by Energy and Natural Resources Law, starting in 2006; as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, by Chambers USA, from 2003-2008; as a Georgia Super Lawyer, by Atlanta Magazine since 2004; and in Who’s Who in America, since 2006.
